Be Kind

Sometimes kindness comes from going to bed early and getting up early. Sometimes, kindness comes from celebrating with family and friends well into the night and then resting the next day. Being ok with the rhythm of the moments is part of growing. Go with the flow.

I went walking at dawn this morning with some yoga friends before 6am class. Building a community of support around me has been a cornerstone to the transition from Vail to Hudson. I am grateful to the kindness and acceptance of the yoga community here.

Build your own support system. Use it when you need to. Reach out and ask for help when and if you need it. Use your resources. Having difficulty receiving is a form of self-aggression. Open up. Receive. That is my goal!

"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Aesop, The Lion and the Mouse

While meditating on kindness today the fable "The Lion and the Mouse" entered my thoughts. Written literally thousand of years ago, it still holds a great deal of charm with its moral.

A mouse running from a hungry owl, stumbles upon a sleeping lion. Having been awoken by the mouse , Lion is irritated and considers eating her but decides to let her go. The lion , meanwhile, is doing his lion thing and soon finds himself entangled in a hunter's net and is caught fast within. The helpless roar he lets out echoes across the African plain and is heard by the mouse. She runs to him and quickly gnaws through the rope with her small sharp teeth until he is set free. Yay! A happy ending.

There are many children's stories about kindness. Remember "Frog and Toad"? How about "The Elves and the Shoemaker"? Sharing these stories with others, especially my own children, bring warm feelings to my heart.

Thank you, Jackie, for sharing this timeless story.

And Charry, as you know, I am not one to reach out - I am stubborn or independent depending on how you look at it ;)

So thank you for your efforts in creating community - one that I have been part of for seven years...yet still discovering :) and appreciating more and more. Namaste.
