Kung Fu Panda

My son is loving kung fu right now thanks to Po the Kung Fu Dragon Warrior Panda. He was just watching Kung Fu Panda 2 and is fascinated by a scene in which Tigress holds out her hand for Po to practice punching. He winds up and lands a full blown punch into her hand. She stands totally unphased. He, meanwhile, crumbles to the ground. "Whoa!" he says in astonishment. "How did you do that?" Tigress replies: "Training- punching an iron bar over and over... for 20 years. Now I don't feel anything."

So, as I was walking my son to school today Maddox says: "Tigress can't feel anything. Not even if it's good."

Hmmm... Whoa.... Yes....

Here we are training ourselves, mind, body and spirit not to feel pain. But, in the end, we are also numbing ourselves and training ourselves out of being able to feel and receive pleasure!

Notice what your practice is training you for. You are your own best teacher. Listen carefully. Watch receptively. Be open to the pain and the pleasure.

Awesome post Charry! Thanks to you and Maddox for the reminder to be receptive and not become numb to life's pleasures.
